It’s been said that Chicago's neighborhoods have always been this city's greatest strength. Talk to almost any Chicagoan, and you will find pride in the unique history and culture of the neighborhood they call home.
But on Chicago’s West Side, and in similar communities across the country and around the globe, our neighbors face health disparities that should not exist. A few miles to the east or west of our neighborhood, average life expectancy rises a decade. At Lawndale Christian Family Medicine Residency, we know that addressing inequity and poverty is complex and challenging, but we are called to meet this challenge.
In alignment with the mission of Lawndale Christian Health Center — to show and share the love of Jesus by promoting wellness and providing quality, affordable healthcare to Lawndale and neighboring communities — Our mission at Lawndale FMR is to equip family medicine physicians to serve and advocate for marginalized populations by addressing health disparities and delivering excellent care with a spirit of humility, justice, and hope.
